Heawood Hall was a small gentry house in Nether Alderley, once the home of the Hollinsheds, a family that included the 16th-century chronicler who was Shakespeare`s source for many of his
Nether Hall was the home of the Colt family. This great 15th-century mansion was demolished in 1773 - all except this gatehouse, which proved just too sturdy.
Here once was Nether Wallop Village Store and Post Office. Now it is a house and a tiny plate above the shop window reads 'The Old Post Office'.
