Selsey, The Beach 1930

More about this scene
In the 7th century, Selsey was the cultural centre of Sussex. Today the remains of Bishop Wilfrid's Saxon cathedral and the Bishop of Chichester's deer park lie submerged a few hundred yards offshore. The coastline is still being eroded, and as each winter storm breaches the vulnerable unprotected beach, the sea threatens to make Selsey an island again.
