Selsley, The View From The Hill 1910

More about this scene
Selsley was, until 1863, a part of Kings Stanley ecclesiastical parish. The church's design is based on one at Marlengo in the Tyrol, and has important glass from the workshops of William Morris. It was built by Sir Samuel Marling, whose woollen cloth mill is visible in the valley beyond. The monument to the left of the church came from the 1851 Great Exhibition. The main point of interest in the picture, however, lies in the distance, where much recent building development has radically altered the landscape.
