Medley Family 19th Century

A Memory of Shelf.

I regret that I feel a slight fraud as I have no memories of my own of Shelf, nor have I visited, YET. However, having researched my family tree of Medleys of Yorkshire back to the sixteenth century, the family that comes in to the first censuses lived in Shelf.
This family comprised, John (a weaver) and Elisabeth (formerly widow Wilkinson, nee Haell) and their three children, Grace (b 1780), William (b 1783) and Thomas b 1785 who is my direct ancestor. The two boys married sisters, Susannah and Nancy Shaw, who lived next door to them.
I would love to know what sort of lives they had, and whether there are any relations still living in Shelf.
I presume that John would have been a weaver of worsted or damask.
Does anyone have any historical knowledge or very old photos that would help?
