More about this scene
Sherborne is in some people's estimation the most attractive of the Dorset towns. It was once the capital of Saxon Wessex, and two kings, Ethelbald and Ethelbert, Alfred's brothers, were buried in its abbey. The town's bishops were expected to be warriors as well as theologians in those troubled times.
