More about this scene
The Church of All Saints is mainly 14th-century, and contains several fine tombs of the Upcher family. The bench ends are remarkable; they include a baby in swaddling clothes, Nebuchadnezzar eating grass, and even a mermaid, which is said to be modelled from life from a mermaid who would creep ashore and listen to the congregation singing from the north door.
