More about this scene
The north coast resorts have beaches of pebbles, unlike the sandy beaches of the east coast. The groynes run out to sea in an attempt to prevent the pebbles being pushed along the beach by the action of the waves. The esplanade also helps prevent the erosion of the cliff.
