This image is a Reference Print: it has not been shown on our website before as it has not been optimised and therefore may not meet the quality standards we require for use in our normal product range. However, we understand that this image could be potentially important for genealogical, local history or architectural research and so we are showing it on the website for on-line research only. The photo may be available to buy, but needs to be checked and optimised before you can place an order.

Why are these different? All 300,000 photographs in The Frith Collection have been scanned, but as the photos were taken over a 110 year period on a wide range of glass & film negatives, using different photographic processes, every image has to be checked and optimised, before we make a print for a customer.

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Shrewsbury

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I'm trying to trace my family who lived in Longdon Clapham there name was Stannett.Grandma was Ann, and my Mother Gwendoline Julia Mary, known as Judy.My mother had brothers that lived in Shrewsbury, and I may have a cousin called Ada.Anyone who knows of family.Ann Owen
On the maternal side of my ancestry, I knew my maternal grandfather for many years. There was a large leather bound family album which as a child, I was permitted to look at. It was after the "all clear" sounded in the early 1940's. A grand announcement was made that I would now be told something very special. It concerned the father of my grandfather. He was John Halstead Wood, born Shrewsbury 1858. ...see more
My twin sister, Anne, and I were born a month prematurely in July 1950. We were baptised shortly after, in the special ancient font, in St. Mary's. 3 years ago, my 86 year old father & I revisited St. Mary's to see the font and were thrilled to also find the Mothers' Union banner my mother used to carry.
I am trying to find any children or grandchildren of Lesley Charles Hall, whose wife's name was Hilda. He served in the Royal Navy during the war. I believe he had 11 children. He died in 1998. Any information would help no matter how small for the book I am researching. Thank you for your time. John M Taylor
