Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Again, the cliffs stand out in the background. As the railway did not arrive until 1874, the town remained unspoilt by mass tourism, especially as the beach was shingle. Thus the mansions, built earlier, were not ruined and much of the town remains old-fashioned, untouched by modern development.

Spencer's Hat Shop, Fore Street
My Great, Great Aunt was Beatrice Spencer. She was a milliner and owned the Millinery/Hat Shop in Fore Street from the early 1900's . The shop was called Spencer's and Beatrice (Aunt Beat) lived on the premises, keeping a large dog for security! She was a remarkable woman and remained single until aged 70 when she married a gentlemen called Alfred Cross in 1941. Beatrice died in 1946. The shop ...see more

Wartime Evacuees
This memory is on behalf of a friend who was evacuated from London to Sidmouth in 1944. Her recollection is fairly vague but she was allocated to Brackendale, Ice House Lane which was owned by  Mrs Elizabeth, Henriatta Jane Perryman  (purchased in May 1934) and run by two ladies, Miss Hood and Miss Fitzgerald. Heather And Gorse Clog Dancers Busk At The Sidmouth Folk Festival
Each August huge numbers of dancers and musicians head to Sidmouth for the annual folk festival - a week long event which celebrates our national heritage of music, dance and song. All our photos are printed as optimised versions of their originals, this process can take anything from 15 minutes to several hours. This ensures that the product you get shows the true quality that Frith photos are renowned for.

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
