More about this scene
No buildings are left here today. At the end of 1943, the whole area was requisitioned by the military, and US forces practised the D-Day landings. With only a month's notice, every living soul was turned out of home, work and livelihood. The water in the foreground is Slapton Ley, famed for its bird life.
