Souldern, The Pond c.1965

More about this scene
The name Souldern derives from 'Sulthorn', meaning 'thorn bush in a gully'. Most of the houses are built with grey stone, and some are fairly large, as we see here. The pond, which was once the village well, is fed by spring water. Its calm waters reflect this compact, peaceful, and quiet north Oxfordshire village.
