Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Jack Callow moved to Bates Lane in 1929, and here he opened a shop, which became known as Callow's Stores. We can see it in this photograph, down near the high wall, centre right. He started by selling potatoes and milk, but he soon widened his range. He moved to new premises in 1972.

School Days
I lived in Souldern and remember Callows shop very well. I remember Jack and Sam (who sadly was fataly injured on a tractor). I went to school with Jack's son, John, to Steeple Aston School with heyfordian coaches but most of all I remember Nancy Bowls. Used to look forward to riding in the cart up to Nancy's Wood pulled by the donkey. I even remember Nancy's mother; when she was too weary to travel, she stayed ...see more

Evacuee
Aged 9, evacuated to Souldern, on leaving the train I was taken to the village hall where we were all told to sit down and await to be collected, over a period of time I was selected and taken to the Hermitage, the lady of the house being Mrs Slessor. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
