Growing Up In Southall
A Memory of Southall.
My name is Christine Andrews (Bramston is my maiden name). I lived in Devonshire Road Southall from my birth in 1956 until we moved away to Basingstoke in 1966. My best friend was Susan Endersby who lived at 130 Ascot Gardens with her mum and dad Ron and Vera (I think). I had other friends who lived in Rutland Road (a girl called Linda who moved to Leighton Buzzard) and I remember a family who also lived in Devonshire Road called Sheehan. They had two girls one called Sylvia and their dad worked for Birds Eye. I went to Lady Margaret school from1960 until 1966 - the name Valerie Newall seems to ring a bell and I think she went to the same school at this time. I would love to get in touch with any of these people or talk to anybody who lived in the area around this time. My dad John worked at the AEC in Windmill Lane Southall from around 1950 until 1966. My mum Blanche worked at Rockware Glass in Greenford.
