I served my apprenticeship 100 yards up Westhill Road, HL Austin and Son, a BLMC dealership. Friday nights I spent a proportion of my wages in the Park Tavern. Run by a wonderful Irish family with a horse and carriage hired out for weddings etc. The stable was behind the pub, the groom engaged to the Landlord's daughter. This photograph is not of Lavenham Road but is actually the Park Tavern in Merton Road, London, SW18.
It stands at the junction with West Hill Road.
Most of the buildings shown still exist today.
My family lived in a house nearby from 1947 to 2018.
