More about this scene
The car age has certainly arrived in Southport. Nationally, coupés and tourers outnumbered saloons by about seven to one, and they appear to be doing the same in Southport. The Prince of Wales Hotel was built on Lord Street in 1876. In the 1923 Dunlop Guide the Prince is listed has having 150 beds and garaging for 4 cars. The hotel's claim to fame is that it was the first in the country to receive RAC approval.
