More about this scene
The South Parade pier is the more traditional of Southsea's two piers. It was opened in 1879 by Princess Saxe-Weimar, and it was extensively rebuilt in the Edwardian era after a fire in 1904. A spacious pavilion included a 1200-seater theatre, which has since been replaced by a smaller structure. The rock opera 'Tommy' was filmed here.
