More about this scene
This is our first look at Southwold Pier, which opened in the summer of 1900. Here the elegant 'Belle' steamers drew alongside, discharging and collecting visitors in what was the glorious era of Edwardian tourism. Like all piers, Southwold underwent many adventures over the years; but today it lives and breathes again as a real attraction for people of all ages and tastes, but especially for those with a sense of fun.
