More about this scene
The White Hart (left) contained what was probably the oldest letter box. It was discovered in 1988, and had been in use from 1842. E J Tong the ironmongers next door are still in business and still in the same building, and so is Barclay's Bank. The Midland Bank is now the HSBC; next door, in what was a space in 1955, is now the NFU Mutual organisation.
