More about this scene
George Smith's Town Hall of 1830, which with its Ionic columns and Tuscan pillars bears a remarkable resemblance to the Corn Exchange at Bishop's Stortford and dominates St Peter's Street and its avenue of lime trees planted in 1881. Chequer Street stretches away to the left.
