St Ives, Porthminster Beach c.1955

More about this scene
This photograph was taken during the heyday of mass tourism. The tea house, which still functions today as a delightful cafe-restaurant, stands at the near end of the beach. There are no surviving traces of the once major industry of seine net fishing.
