St Ives, The Wharf 1890

More about this scene
'Its old rickety houses lie nestling on the very skirt of the sea.' It would be hard to find a straight edge in St Ives. Everything seems twisted or warped - the granite setts, alleys and courtyards, blue slate-hung walls, whitewashed rubble, tumbling roofs. Old fishermen sit in the sunlight outside Quick's sail loft.
