My Holiday Memories Of St Osyth
A Memory of St Osyth.
I used to come to St Osyth every year as a little girl with my family. We stayed a a chalet near the Sailor Boy club. This was from 1965 ish to about mid 70's.
The Family consisted of my nan and grandad, mum and dad, along with 3 sisters, and then my aunt and uncle had another chalet with my cousin's, around the corner. ( So a nice typical big family holiday).
My memories of holidays here are getting all unpacked and then playing out, untill it was time for a walk along the sea front to past Jaywick to Clacton... We did this as my nan loved walking and we saved up our pennies for the machines at the end.
Jaywick was so beautiful then, all the beach huts pretty and decorated with beach shells, flowers and deck chairs, sadly nothing like we see on the TV now.
I remember, trying to be the first child up in the morning so I could go with my dad to collect a paper from the little shop on site, along with the bacon, sausage and egg for breakfast, as we were on holiday.!!
Also going for long walks over the Marsh ground which was just behind our chalets, and coming across a grass snake, we thought we were on a great adventure... Lol.
The summers seemed to go on forever.
We'd be on that beach behind our chalet all day, with our picnic, and go get cups of tea from the cafe on the top.. I can't remember the name of it now, but I remember we used to watch the boat races from there sometimes too.
Such wonderful memories, and such a shame that we all have to grow up xxxx
