The mill seen here on the right is of considerable antiquity, even in this village of old buildings. A little further up the road is Stanford Court, once the home of the Winnington family. In 1769 the original village church was submerged so that the powerful landowner could construct a lake in front of his home. The new church has many memorials transported from the older building.
