Rayners Stores

A Memory of Stanwell.

This view is of Rayners Stores on the left looking towards the Wheatsheaf pub and Village Hall with Oaks Road off to the right. A public telephone call box stood on the right as did a Police (Tardis) Box.

I was born in Laucer rd. 1959, used to go to Rayners with my nan, there used to be a very tall white haired man serving in the shop always used to give me a handful of corned beef and ham crumbs from the ham slicer, delicious!
I remember the forge next to the village hall ,I used to go watch the old smithy shoeing the milk and bread delivery horse.
