Coronation

A Memory of Stoneleigh.

I started school at Stoneleigh East infants School the year of the Coronation and remember getting my mug full of Smarties and thinking school wasn't so bad. The headmistress was Mrs Bell and my first teacher was Miss Sparrow who confused me by getting married and becoming Mrs Bedford. My maiden name was Margaret King.

I went to Stoneleigh East in 1946 and left in 1953 from the Junior School. The head master was Mr. Burston. For the Coronation we had a book about the Coronation which I still have.
I was born in 1947 and started in the infants school in 1953. Mr Burstin was still the Headmaster when I was in the Junior School and Mrs McGuire was the school secretary. My older brother used to call the Head "Burst Pipes".
