Happy Days

A Memory of Stoney Stanton.

I was born on the 6th of July 1936 at 61 Hinckley Road. My mother was Edith Truslove, nee Turrell, father William Truslove. I had an idyllic childhood. Playing in Ken Underwood's fields. Watching the quarry steam locos running to and from the quarries on Sapcote Road and the crusher down Elmsthorpe Lane. All my uncles worked in the quarries as did most of the village men. We had long walks to Croft, Sapcote,Elmsthorpe and Watery Gate, lots of picnics. Wonderful teachers, Jenny Tansy, Mrs Middleton, Mr Pye
