The name of this long, narrow and very pretty open space is self-explanatory. Nowadays the green is edged with lime trees; attractive Georgian and later cottages surround it, and the Baptist Chapel of 1823 faces its north side. This view looks north-east past the war memorial cross of about 1920 towards Watling Street, which forms the Green's short east side.
