More about this scene
Stopham Bridge has long been considered one of the finest and most striking of medieval bridges in the country. Dating back to 1309 and rebuilt in 1403, the bridge is now preserved. Six of the arches are original; however, the central one was raised in 1822 to allow barges to pass through.
