Stourbridge, High Street c.1950

More about this scene
Until 1974 Stourbridge was in Worcestershire, and was always considered slightly posher than its Staffordshire neighbours. It was right on the edge of the Black Country, and it had almost the air of a rural market town. This picture gives some idea of the quality and variety of the buildings which lined the High Street in the 1950s.
