More about this scene
Boating has long been a popular pursuit for visitors to Stratford, and for many residents too. Colourful boats throng the river and canal daily, but none is as glamorous as the Venetian gondola (complete with gondolier) imported by the novelist Marie Corelli, who lived in Stratford from 1899 until her death in 1924.
