More about this scene

Strete stands on the winding lanes which form the highway between Dartmouth and the villages clustered around the great freshwater lake of Slapton Ley. Strete's main road is seldom now as peaceful and car-free as it was in the 1920s. There are some delightful walks in the area, and it is a pity so many motorists do not take the time to halt and explore.
