A Memory of Styal.

I was at Styal 1960, I was in Snow White House, my sister was there at the same time she was in Wendy House as she was only 5yrs old. Maria and Claire Donnelly. Claire stayed for 3 years. I remember Nurse Pinfold she was the SRN I visited her many years later as she lived not far from Styal. Nurse Lyon’s, Jones (who I met many years later when I was a Nurse caring for her father in law) Nurse Markington from Lithuania, she cared very much for my sister, she was like a surrogate mother. I sat my 11+ there, did my cycling proficiency test.
I was happy at Styal, love walking into wilmslow to buy sweets, Styal Woods, we were well cared for. In my later nursing career I worked next door Styal Prison and used to look at the demolished place with sad feeling that it was not there, my memories though will still remain.
If anyone remembers a male teacher he had a pot leg, think he was tortured by the Japanese in WW2, please let me know his name.
