Swansea, Civic Buildings c.1960

More about this scene
Designed by Sir Percy Thomas, the building was started in 1930 and was opened in 1934. Controversial at the time, it was representative of the modern movement in architecture, and is described as having a 'stripped classical' style. Notice the prow of a Viking longboat in the clock-tower, a reminder of Sweyne Forkbeard and the city's Viking founders.
