More about this scene
It must have been a considerable worry at council meetings when plans were discussed for this attractive open area, bounded by houses of quality ranging from thatches of the 17th century and earlier, to flat brick fronts of the early 19th century. So, instead of opting for a sensitive pedestrian and architecture-friendly scheme, the area is now transformed into a peculiarly urban landscape, half car park and half odd seating which one would hesitate to use. All in all, it blends with the remainder of this unfortunate village.
