Searching For The Devonshire Family
A Memory of Talygarn.
Joseph and Mary Devonshire (nee Neat) lived in a large house in Talygarn, they were both born about 1845. They had 10 children, 4 girls, one of whom was Mary, and 6 boys, one of whom was David, killed in the First World War on 25/12/1914 in France (2nd Battalion of the Grenadier Guards). Another son was George, who survived the First World War. They were my great-great-uncles. One of the girls was married to a Frederick Fletcher. The males could all have been hewers in the mines. I gather there is a home for retired miners in Talygarn.
My gran was Winifred Fletcher, born 1908, born in Talygfarn. If anyone has any information, no matter of small be it, of the war memorial, churchyard etc please would you be so kind as to email me at:
tizzy1954@hotmail.co.uk
It would assist me greatly as I am unable to visit your village personally.
Thank you.
