The Market House, seen here on the left, was built in 1772 and has fulfilled a variety of roles since. In this photograph we see it as a branch office of the Alliance Assurance Company - notice the Alliance sign on the right-hand edge of the wall. Today it houses the offices of Age Concern and a school of dance.
