Tiegnmouth 1948 1990

A Memory of Teignmouth.

1945 As a boy of 15 and living in Banstead road carshalton Beeches, I had two friends named Raymond & Peter Colly, there father Mr Colly who was a clockMaker and was badley burnt in WW2. Shortly after the war went back to his birth home ( Tiegnmouth) and opened a watch/clock shop taking his family with him.in 1948 he invited me to spend my two weeks holiday at his house/shop, at that time I enyoyed Cycling so I decided to cycle from my parent house in Carshalton Beeches Surrey to Tiegnmouth and fell in love with the town, After Leaving the RAF and married I have every year camped at Ware Farm ( Kockas?) and once on thr top of the hill in shaldon, over the years had Five Sons last two are twins and they have many fond memory`s. also Mr Colly in his shop had over two hundred clocks (Some Cookoo) on on the walls and wound them upevery day, in his Hall he had very special Clock, It was about 18 inches square 20 inches high and beutifuly carved with four faces. Later the family moved up the hill
