Tenby was described thus in a Victorian guidebook of 1895: 'Tenby stands on a tongue of limestone rock, ending in a green promontory, which is crowned by the ruins of the old castle, and is now pleasantly laid out with walks which serve at once as pier and promenade, and from which are commanded fine views of the bays on either hand … Both on the north and south sands, which are separated from each other by the Castle Hill and harbour, there are numerous bathing machines'.

Holidays

Spent two holidays in Tenby around 1955/6 mornings spent on the beach. Afternoon spent exploring usually by bus. No car then. We came down from Cheshire on the train. The journey being part of the holiday. Stayed in board and lodging at Gibraltar Terrace. Think the landlady was Swiss. She made my sister and I a beautiful rabbit jelly complete with jelly grass. Caldey Island
My mother, Enid Fowler(Thomas) told me that her father, Oliver Frank Thomas,(honorary mayor of Tenby 1930) often enjoyed going to Caldey Island to talk with the monks.

I was born in the County Hospital in Haverfordwest and for the first week I was looked after by my aunt at Park Place. From that time, I was riased and loved at the Bush Inn, St George St. Does that make me a Tenby Man or a man of Tenby? I was so lucky to have as a granddad, Wiffy Vaulk. Tenby remains my home. The five arches are so important to the town as they welcome visitors and also to us Tenby people they signify that when you pass under those walls you are home. Tenby our 'home'.

The Changing Joys Of Tenby.
I was born in the Flat above Lloyds Bank, Tudor Square, Tenby, Feb 1950 and recall being raised there. I recall the amazing views of the changing colours of the harbour and recall the church bells and chimes of the steeple clock. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
