Tetbury, Long Street And The Market House c.1965

More about this scene
Most of Tetbury's town centre buildings have stood there since Queen Elizabeth I's time. The Market House is one of the finest in Gloucestershire, and dates from 1655. It stands on arcades supported on chubby stone legs; beneath it is a tank from which water was pumped for public use, a benefaction to the townspeople that was installed in 1749 by Vicar Wight at his own expense. A general market is still held in and under the Market Hall on Wednesdays.
