More about this scene
Conrad Noel`s incumbency (1910-42) was a colourful time for Thaxted. He was a Socialist, and sometimes upset people with his liberal use of the red flag. He sought to make the church central to Thaxted`s social life, embellishing it with the dancers and musicians he invited to perform here. This head was made by the sculptor Gertrude Hermes.
