More about this scene
The Swan (left) has an extensive Georgian frontage, nine bays wide. Originally, there were eleven. It once had its own oasthouse and maltings, and a cattle-market used to take place in the inn yard. There are documented references to the `signum cygni` (the sign of The Swan) as early as the 1540s.
