The Refreshment Pavilion (see the writing on the roof) served walkers visiting the Wrekin, one of the finest viewpoints in Shropshire. It is said that two giants were digging in the area to form the valley of the River Severn, and the Wrekin was formed from all the spoil they dug out.

When I was a young girl in the early 1950s I remember going with my parents halfway up the Wrekin and we would stop at this cottage and have Sunday tea, being scones and a pot of tea, then we would continue on foot to the top of the Wrekin, the summers seem so hot then.
