More about this scene

Situated at Four Lane Ends cross roads and bisecting Victoria Road, this has proved an excellent focal point. The local repertory group regularly put on plays. The County Library, opened by Sir Percy Meadon when Mr Raymond Irwin was County Librarian, continues to give excellent service. It was inevitable that two years ago (2002) a decision was made to bring this popular venue up to standard.

Verona Cinema
Hi does anybody have any photos of the Verona cinema on fleetwood rd north it's called the Verona hall now and was originally called Thornton cinema shut in the 1950's

The Queens Bars
Does anyone remember the Queens Bars in Cleveleys? I worked there in the cabaret they put on 3 times a night, about 5 acts. I was the 'Jackie' part of Ricky & Jackie Day...and my fondest memory was of a guy called Jimmy Rose, a Country & Western singer, and his lovely wife. Rita...a Birmingham couple....I wonder where they are now, and what the Queens Bars site looks like now...probably a shopping mall.

Meadows Avenue (Just Round The Corner)
Well actually it is any dates up to & beyond 1960.  Born in 1951, I recognise the view of how the avenue looked before all the bungalows were built on the west side.  We used to walk to Cleveleys through the 'paddy fields', full of buttercups & mayflowers.  When we reached Rowlands Farm (Rowlands Lane now) we'd risk our lives cimbing in the tumbledown farmhouse & make dens. Great days.

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
