The Old Garage At Thurstaston

A Memory of Thurstaston.

Dereliott Conversions took over Heatherlands Garage in Thurstatson Road and became world famous for their specialist sports cars back in the 1970's / 1980's. I have made a web site of the history of Dereliott Conversions where there are many photo's at http://www.dereliott-conversions.webs.com A child's nursery now stands on the site.

When I was at Dawpool School ( on the hill ) from 1937 to 1943 we would go to the garage to cadge ball bearings so we could play marbles ( if you had a "bolly " or more than one ,you were king of the hill. Unfortunately I don't remember ever being given one. Further along was the Heatherland Café, home of the Robertson family. Ian R was a friend and became the Birkenhead School javelin champion and competed at national level. There was also the old lady who lived in sandy Lane who we all thought was a witch. This was not true of course and if you like I can give you the truth about this remarkable old woman which is stranger than fiction.
