Highlands School, Wardle Avenue, Tilehurst
A Memory of Tilehurst.
I was at Highlands between 1966-1970, and have very warm and happy memories of the school. I was Janet Anderson back then. Mrs. Peach was Headmistress, she was a wonderful lady. I started in the first form, worked up to the third form, then jumped to the middle fourth (I think it was called). My favourite teacher was Mrs. Swanborough. I remember friends Kim Walking and Lyndsey Jones. School dinners were always delicious. My favourite memory was singing "God Be With You Till We Meet Again" at every last day of term assembly, and crying my eyes out during it on the last day of summer term 1970 when I left to go on to Kendrick School. What memories of this lovely school, and it's companion school for boys aged 8-14, St. Edwards, do other members have. There is the possibility of a book being written about this school by a local author, so if anyone has memories or photos and would like them to be included in the book, please get in touch.
