Dedicated to St George of England (note the full title), the parish church at Toddington is so similar to its counterpart in Houghton Regis, just a few miles away, that it should be suggested that only the same masons could have built it. There is a low mound beside the church. Local legend says that a witch is imprisoned within the mound and that you can hear her cooking pancakes if you put your ear to the ground on Shrove Tuesday ('Pancake Day'), the day before Ash Wednesday.

Toddington, A Memory
Local legend says that a witch is imprisoned within the mound beside the church at Toddington, and there was a local tradition that on Shrove Tuesday ('Pancake Day'), the day before Ash Wednesday, if we put our ears to the ground on the mound we could hear the witches frying their pancakes. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album.
