Fircroft School

A Memory of Tooting.

Fircroft School, what happy memories, I attended between 1956 ish to 1962 - My memories are of school milk, maypole dancing, and playing soccer for the school. We lived in Beechcoft Rd and could walk to school in complete safety, My Father and Brother also attended ( both named John) Memories of Miss Lewis, and Mr Kirkham who trained our football and cricket teams ( we played soccer on the cinder pitches at Tooting Bec common -) those were happy days - still could get farthing chews ( 4 for a penny) - School mates that I remember by name, Bruce Rogers, Tommy Faulkner, Peter Webb, Louise Webb, Timothy Holmes - Deborah Medlamd- Caroline Williams ( where are you now?)
Happy days

Hi Doug are you related to Susan Holmes, I went to Fircroft around the same time as you, the pupil names you mention I do not recollect so they must have been in another form to me, I of course remember Miss Lewis, I also remember Miss White who taught English, do you remember a visit we had from members of the Royal family either Duke & Duchess of Kent or Gloucester come to mind. the pupils I remember are John Masters, John Manchet, David Winyard Susan Crumpton, Sheila Knight, Angela ? Linda Phipps, Ann Becovey, others I remember faces just can´t recall the names that go with them. in the junior school I was in Mr Nichols class, I remember Miss Cook English Teacher. she collapsed in class & never returned realize now as an adult that she had a fit, it was in a lesson when we were reading The Lion the Witch & the Wardrobe. you ask where are you now, well I live in a little village in Andalucia Spain, near Velez-Malaga.
