Topcliffe, Long Street c.1960

More about this scene
Seen from its modern bypass on the A168 trunk road south of Thirsk, Topcliffe looks like a modern village of new housing estates. But this 1950s view of Long Street shows some of the older, Georgian cottages at the top end of the village, where annual horse and sheep fairs were held until the late 1960s.
