More about this scene
This view from the top of Morgan Street shows the 72ft-high ornamental clock tower and three of the four roads that lead from the Circle. The tower`s iron steps were enclosed with iron railings until 1933, when the present dwarf wall, pillars and sward were substituted. The date of 1858 on the base of the clock is misleading, as it was not completed until 1859. The Olympia cinema and the Black Prince public house are on the left, and situated just to the right of the clock is the Tredegar Arms, commonly known as the TA. The impressive mock-Tudor building behind the clock is no longer the electricity department.
