Coal Mining
A Memory of Twechar.
My father William Whigham ( originally form West Calder) moved through to live and work in Twechar ( he might have stayed with relatives in Kirkintilloch) in 1926. He worked in the pit but as it was the General Strike then I am not sure what the circumstances would have been - maybe a private pit?
If anyone has any info about Twechar in those days I would be very grateful.
